Brentwood School - Brentwoodian 2020

101 Suzanne Bond Ms Bond joins the Brentwood staff as a pastoral mentor. Though she has taught History for over 20 years, she found herself drawn to the pastoral care inherent in her job; when the opportunity arose for her to focus exclusively on pastoral care, she could not wait to get started. Aside from her work in school, Ms Bond enjoys walking the dog George (especially on the beach), going to the cinema, reading, and eating cake. Her proudest achievement is winning the ‘Best Tap Dancer of the Year’ award in 1979 from her dancing school, and her favourite flavour of ice cream is coconut. Favourite quotation Y ou’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think (AAMilne - Winnie the Pooh) Advice for students Always be true to yourself and treat others the way you would like to be treated Leah Chapman Ms Chapman enjoys the ‘eureka’ moments on offer as a Maths teacher - the strict and simple rules that add up to a student’s understanding, and multiply their enjoyment of the subject. She loves to share her enthusiasm for Mathematics with Brentwood pupils; it is a subject she has wanted to teach for as long as she can remember. She follows in her mother’s footsteps as a Maths teacher - Ms Chapman is in her tenth year of teaching, while her mother has made it a 48-year long career! Ms Chapman has a toddler at home, with whom she loves visiting the trampoline parks. She is also fortunate enough to have a chihuahua called Dolly, and enjoys taking her on walks with the rest of the family. Ms Chapman enjoys Crossfit and, after burning off countless calories lifting weights and running circuits, she would like nothing more than to tuck into her favourite meal of spaghetti bolognese and garlic bread. Favourite quotation You can never be overdressed, or over- educated Advice for students Be the best you can be - but always, always, be kind joining staff
