Brentwood School - Brentwoodian 2020
24 was our dinner in the Geographical Society, where Putin often dines as it is opposite the headquarters of the FSB. Our final day in Russia was bittersweet. We visited the Museum of Cosmonautics where we once more got to immerse ourselves in an alternate perspective to our own. This museum contained many amazing displays including the first suits worn on space walks and artifacts which had been to space. We also got to have a go in a simulator which was lots of fun. Before heading to the airport, we travelled through the metro and saw some of the stations which make the Moscow subway one of, if not the, most recognisable metros in the world. Our day was bittersweet as we would be saying goodbye to two amazing cities, but I think we were all looking forward to being warm again. Overall, the trip was incredible. We not only got to travel to two cities and visit museums that we may never have had the opportunity to visit outside of this trip, but due to the tour guides and the excellent organising and planning by Mr Clark, we were able to appreciate as much as humanly possible in the span of six not so short days. The other staff, Mr Walton, Mrs Clark and Ms Fuller also helped to make each day really engaging and fun. My only qualm is that I wasn’t able to go on this trip a year earlier and am therefore envious of the Fourth and Fifth years who will be able to utilise all that they learnt in their exams; I am happy to have simply learnt a little more about Russia’s rich yet turbulent history.
