Brentwood School - Brentwoodian 2020
45 U13C The Under 13C netball team has had a very successful year. We have played three matches throughout the season, winning 2, drawing 0 and losing 1. One highlight was the match against New Hall who we beat in the last second (9-8). Overall we have scored 41 goals. One thing that we will always remember was the match against Forest School where we won 21-9 . This was due to Niamh Eldridge, Achinta Kundra and Niamh Doherty’s amazing defending; Alice Stonebridge, Evie Harris, Millie Vann and Eloise SB’s determination to get the ball as soon as they could and Chloe Leslie and Achinta Kundra for their amazing shooting. Everyone in the team has earnt their place as each has a skill which puts our team together. Over the season we have connected well as a team and have communicated well throughout all of our games. The team can easily adapt to the game. Everybody has improved so much from the beginning of the year. This is because of the best coach, Mrs Shufflebotham, for teaching us all so well. This season has been a wonderful experience and we hope that it will continue for our next year in netball and through Brentwood School. By Olivia Mitchell U12 A Throughout the season we have experienced some excellent games, but nevertheless every game had room for improvement, which we have gone away and worked on to be better for the next game. This work has helped to shape our team and learning new skills together doesn’t just help to improve our match play, it also makes our great friendships even stronger. As a team we support each other if a team member is struggling with a new skill or drill; this really shows in our games as we always have each other's back. I think that our best game was against Coopers’ Company and Coborn School in the quarter-final of the Essex Cup; (I’m sure the team would agree). This was a great game as we played our game and did not drop to our opposition's standards at all. The defenders in this game played especially well and held their own against a tough opposition and throughout this high pressure game, with us winning the match 37-22. We trained really hard all year and all our hard work had clearly paid off! This year's ‘Coach’s Player’ was Louella Peers for her determination and drive to succeed. ‘Coach’s Most Improved’ was Trinity Baptist for her transformation from basketballer to netballer and to Skye Lake for her improvement in skills as a goalkeeper. We also awarded ‘Players’ Player’ and ‘Players Most Improved’. Our ‘Players’ Player’ was Alyssa Wyatt for never giving up and always keeping a positive mindset on court, and our ‘Players’ Most Improved’ was Trinity for her transformation into this brand new sport. With only two games lost over the whole season, we were one of the strongest teams in the county. Sadly, our season was cut short due to the Covid-19 crisis. This led to us not being able to play the semi-finals and possibly the final of the Essex Cup. However, something that can make us proud are our statistics which were the best in the School with 483 goals scored and a goal difference of 276! An amazing year, with amazing results, and amazing new friendships. By Jemimah Knightsbridge, Louella Peers and Skye Lake
