Brentwood School - Brentwoodian 2020

52 U15C This year, unfortunately, we had a short season due to the extremely wet weather but we managed to play two great games against Wilson’s School and the U14C team at Brentwood. In our first game of the season against Wilson’s School we went into the game very enthusiastically and that showed within our performance. After a first half goal from Ciaran O’Hare we went into the second half at 1-1. Then shortly after the second half started, Ciaran was played a lovely pass down the right-hand side from James Pridmore which he scored to allow us to go 2-1 up. From then on we all tried having a go at goal as we were very optimistic that we could score more and then the goals continued. Ciaran scored one more to get his hat- trick, Angus scored one and Thinod Balage Don scored a weak foot shot at goal after cutting in from the left-hand side. Assists came from Joe Herbert and Harry Plackett. Also, the back three consisting of Josh Peacock, Connor Smithers and Harry Plackett and the two alternating goalkeepers, Adam Harding and Nathaniel Hughes, helped us to achieve the first win of the season by putting in strong tackles, especially from Josh Peacock in the centre of the back three, and Adam and Nat making big saves to keep us in the game. The game ended 5-3; onto our next game against the U14C team. After many training sessions, our second game took place against the U14C team. We already had some new additions to our team with Josef Toff, Joe Butler, Seun Fashesin- Souza adding to our defence and Timi Ashaye bringing his lightning pace to the wing. We, U14A The season had its ups and downs but was very enjoyable, even though it unfortunately came to an abrupt halt with the lockdown, which was disappointing to us all as we were having a good run. Under the guidance of Mr Bauer and Mr Woodcock we enjoyed a good start to the season, entering a league for the first time. We were unbeaten in the first 3 games but sadly knocked out in the 1st round of the County Cup against a very strong Mayflower side. Our campaign continued with some solid performances including a 2-1 win vs Forest School in the league and a 4-1 victory in the ESFA 1st round vs Harris Boys’ Academy. We endured a difficult November, as we were knocked out of both the ISFA cup by City of London 3-5 and Herne Bay 3-4 in the ESFA 2nd round where some controversial decisions didn’t go in our favour. As the season came to a close we finished strongly, beating a good Bishop’s Stortford side 3-0 and Bedford Modern 3-0. Many players this season performed well but particular mention goes to Oren Goddard, who moved up to the A team at the start of the season, for his great goalkeeping skills and maintaining his form after a nasty injury. Also, Blake Weedon and Alex Middleton were great additions to the squad after joining Brentwood School this year. We have a talented group of players and are all very confident and excited about the prospects for next season. By Max Porteous unfortunately, let in a loose goal in the first half making us go 1-0 down going into the second half. Ciaran O’Hare thankfully had his shooting boots on and scored 4 goals in the second half to allow us to win our second game 4-2. The scoreline could have been extended by great shots from Joe Herbert and Louis Delea which were saved by the opposition goalkeeper. Again a great performance from our defence allowed us to turn the game from 1-0 down to a 4-2 win. I would like to thank Mr Moore for his help and for giving up his time after school to allow us to train throughout the football season this year. By Luke Farrow
